Angela Evelyn Bassett is an American actress from America. Her work has earned her recognition for her film and TV performance since the 1980s. Her accolades include two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett comes originally from New York New York. She was raised at Winston-Salem North Carolina. Bassett and her sister, at the age of five old, moved away from the city of their birth to St. Petersburg to live with the mother of their divorced father. Bassett watched the James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play as she was still in highschool and realized that she was an actor and would like to be doing. She was a student at Yale University New Haven Connecticut and graduated with a bachelor's degree (1980) with a major in African American studies and a master's degree (1983) from the Yale School of Drama. She was married in 1997. was married Courtney B. Vance who was an actor in the same group. Qualification: B.A. Degree in African-American Studies in 1980.
